Autism Awareness Day is a free event specifically designed to support children with autism by providing a ballpark test run. This unique experience aims to ease the stress associated with attending large sporting events.
By allowing families and schools to become familiar with the ballpark and the fan experience in a comfortable setting—without the presence of thousands of other fans—parents, school, and their children with special needs can build the familiarity and confidence needed to enjoy a large sporting event, such as a baseball game.
During the complimentary ballpark tour and game, children, along with their families and/or teachers, will become acquainted with stadium procedures. This experience includes…
- Scanning their tickets
- Going through security screening
- Participating in a professional ballpark tour
- Locating their section and seat numbers
Practicing these steps helps establish a routine when attending sporting events, which is especially important for many children with autism who rely on repetition and structure.
