TwinsFest offers fans interactive activities and a behind the scenes look at Target Field to raise money for the Twins Community Fund. The Twins Diversity Marketing department partners with its Spanish broadcast station, La Raza. Players are interviewed at the Celebrate Diversity/La Raza booth where fans can take pictures with the players after their interviews. Spanish Radio hosts, Alfonso Fernandez and Tony Oliva, also conduct interviews with players in the Champions Club as a fun way to build excitement for the upcoming season.
Before spring training kicks off, Twins reps hit the road to visit fans in the Midwest: All aboard the Winter Caravan. We're proud to take this awesome trek each year. For over 50 diverse communities, it's a "thank you" on behalf of the team.
The Minnesota Twins believe that each new season starts in the community. Each year before the home opener Twins front office staff, including president Dave St. Peter, visit almost two dozen elementary schools in Twins Territory. During these school visits, Twins staff teach about Jackie Robinson and Roberto Clemente through reading. Each visit consists of: a reading of a book, a short documentary and a discussion with trivia questions and prizes. The books for the 2017 year are: Testing the Ice: A True Story About Jackie Robinson by Sharon Robinson and Roberto Clemente: Pride of the Pittsburgh Pirates by Jonah Winter.
A diverse group of leaders representing Twin Cities businesses join us for networking events at Target Field. It's a strongly built route to collaboration and bonding, and helps us lay a foundation for future endeavors.
In 1947, Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball as the first African-American to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Jackie paved the way for minorities to play at the highest level. A tribute happens league-wide each year, when players wear #42.
tarting in 2017, the Twins started celebrating an entire Diversity Week! We hosted our annual Taste of Diversity Luncheon, Diversity Day, and Diversity Networking Event. In addition, we worked in the community donating school supplies, celebrating IndiaFest, sponsoring a Latino Business Forum, and more!
We're proud to be part of many festivals around the Twin Cities. Getting out in the community and interacting with fans is what the game is all about. Plus, we keep it fun, with giveaways and games at the Twins booth. Some of the events include Cinco de Mayo, International Festival of Burnsville, Twins Day at the Market, IndiaFest, Twins Territory Rallies and much more.
It begins with a pregame video celebrating this legendary player: his background, his profound skills and above all, his mission to serve. One MLB player who reflects those values is recognized. The Twins present a community award as well.
The Minnesota Twins celebrate diversity all year long. Twins Day at the Market is an event where we come together to celebrate diversity as one community in Twins Territory with music, performances, games, prizes, players and more.
