Simmons (ankle) optimistic, making progress

Angels shortstop , who was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday after rolling his left ankle at first base on Monday against the A’s, is making progress, but he said on Thursday that there is no timetable for his return.

Simmons is currently using crutches to walk long distances.

“I've kind of been down this road once or twice, so I have a pretty decent idea on what's going on,” Simmons said. “It's not as bad as the last one, for sure. So, pretty optimistic. I'm starting to be able to move around way better than I did the first two nights.”

This injury looked eerily similar to the left ankle sprain that Simmon sustained at first base last year, which caused him to miss more than a month. He also had an ankle injury in 2018, which caused him to miss eight games.

“I’m just trying to get back to where I feel healthy playing a baseball game,” Simmons said. “Of course, I’ll try to be careful and pay attention to making sure I’m healthy.”
