Left-hander Tyler Skaggs pitched in to help the Angels bring holiday joy to more than 200 underprivileged children last week, serving as a special guest during the club's annual holiday party at the ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney.
The event, which was staged by the Angels Baseball Foundation and the team's radio station, KLAA 830 AM, brought together groups of children from nonprofit organizations around Orange County, including several local Boys & Girls Clubs, for a fun-filled afternoon in Anaheim.

Skaggs was joined by Angels alumni Chuck Finley, Garret Anderson and Mark Langston, as well as catching and information coach Steve Soliz, all of whom signed autographs, dabbled in friendly arcade competition with kids and participated in a question-and-answer session.
Santa also made a special appearance, drawing chuckles from the crowd when a young boy named DeAngelo asked him how much weight he had put on in the past year.

"Wait a minute, wait a minute," Santa replied. "Santa's actually lost seven pounds."
Each kid in attendance received an Angels hat and T-shirt and took home a toy and a pair of pajamas.

The holiday party is a particularly meaningful event for Skaggs, a native of Santa Monica, Calif., who relishes the chance to give back to children who are experiencing modest upbringings like he did.
"I always feel comfortable around these kids," Skaggs said last year. "I didn't grow up with a lot of money. I went to the Boys & Girls Club as a kid a lot, too. I hung out with and made friends with all kinds of kids with different backgrounds.
"I never got a chance to meet Major League Baseball players when I was that age, so it's really cool to be a part of it."
