MIAMI – Mike Trout almost always makes sure to give himself a gift whenever he gets the chance to play on his birthday.
Trout’s latest gift was a Statcast-projected 400-foot home run to left-center field against the Marlins at loanDepot park on Friday night on the 35th birthday of the Angels outfielder.
After swinging at the first offering from Miami starter Tyler Phillips in the opening frame, Trout took a 96.8 mph four-seam fastball deep for his 19th home run of the season.
Entering Friday, Trout was 9-for-28 with a .321 batting average and five home runs in seven games on his birthday. He tied Alex Rodriguez and Mark Reynolds for the most career birthday home runs.
Trout also became the first player in MLB history to homer on his birthday in six seasons (2012, ‘13, ‘15, ‘17, ‘20 and ‘26). He did not play on his birthday in ‘21, ‘22, ‘23 and ‘24 because of injuries.
