Angels acquire OF Hunter Renfroe from Milwaukee

RHP Janson Junk, RHP Elvis Peguero and LHP Adam Seminaris traded to Brewers

ANAHEIM – The Angels today acquired OF Hunter Renfroe from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for RHP Janson Junk, RHP Elvis Peguero and minor league LHP Adam Seminaris.

Renfroe, 30, played in 125 games for Milwaukee in 2022 and posted 23 doubles, 29 home runs, 72 RBI and a .807 OPS. He led Major League right fielders with 11 assists, ranked 10th in the National League with a .492 slugging percentage, while being named the Brewers Top Newcomer by the Milwaukee Chapter of the BBWAA.

A native of Crystal Springs, Miss., Renfroe was selected by San Diego in the first round (13th overall) of the 2013 Draft out of Mississippi State University and made his Major League debut with the Padres in 2016. He is one of seven Major Leaguers with at least 25 home runs in each of the last five full seasons, along with Nolan Arenado, Paul Goldschmidt, Aaron Judge, Manny Machado, Kyle Schwarber and Eugenio Suarez.

Junk, 26, made three appearances (two starts) for the Angels in 2022 and spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Salt Lake, totaling 16 games (15 starts) for the Bees. Across parts of two Major League seasons with the Angels, Junk pitched in seven games (six starts).

Peguero, 25, appeared in 13 games from the Angels bullpen in 2022 after making his Major League debut during the 2021 season. A native of Cotui, Dominican Republic, Peguero also made 38 appearances for Triple-A Salt Lake in 2022.

Seminaris, 24, was the Angels fifth round selection in the 2020 Draft out of Long Beach State. He totaled 24 games (21 starts) in 2022 across time with High-A Tri-City, Double-A Rocket City and Triple-A Salt Lake.
