Angels sign OF Brett Phillips to one-year contract

ANAHEIM – The Angels today agreed to a one-year, $1.2 million contract with OF Brett Phillips. In a corresponding 40-man roster move, RHP Austin Warren has been designated for assignment.

Phillips, 28, played in 83 games between the Rays and Orioles during the 2022 season and appeared defensively at all three outfield positions. In 2020, he was a member of Tampa Bay’s American League Championship team and delivered the game-winning hit in the Rays walk-off victory in Game 4 of the World Series.

A native of Seminole, Fla., Phillips was originally selected by Houston in the sixth round of the 2012 Draft and made his Major League debut with Milwaukee in 2017. He has totaled 354 career games across parts of six seasons with the Brewers (2017-18), Royals (2018-20), Rays (2020-22) and Orioles (2022).
