Yes way, Josue: Dodgers' top prospect is off to the races at Double-A

With back-to-back World Series championships, the Dodgers are vying for baseball history this season. And down on the farm, things aren’t looking too shabby either. Josue De Paula, the club’s top prospect, has raced off to a hot start at Double-A with well-rounded offensive performances.

On Saturday, De Paula went 1-for-2 with a walk in a rain-shortened game as Tulsa fell to Frisco, 6-5, at Riders Field. The contest ended a five-game RBI streak for MLB’s No. 12 prospect. And while the inclement weather didn’t do De Paula any favors in that regard, it didn’t stop him from matching a career high with three stolen bases.

The Drillers aren’t afraid to be aggressive on the basepaths, evidenced by being tied for second in the Texas League with 41 bags as a unit. De Paula has gone a selective 7-for-9 -- and is running a 79.6 percent success rate over the past two years -- but the baton has largely been carried by fellow outfield prospect Kendall George (LAD No. 13), who has 14 to his credit in 17 games -- a similar pace to when he stole 100 in 111 contests in '25.

While De Paula’s production came via the stolen base Saturday, he has largely been a run-producing machine all year. He ranks in the Top 10 in the Texas League in RBIs (15), while slashing .353/.494/.456. As is the case with most top prospects, the hit tool is only part of the story. At 20 years old, De Paula is showing impressive plate discipline, drawing 18 walks compared to just 11 strikeouts.

Defensive reads and routes are the next step in De Paula’s development. But when also factoring in fellow outfield prospects Zyhir Hope (LAD No. 2/MLB 22), Eduardo Quintero (LAD No. 3/MLB No. 25), Mike Sirota (LAD No. 4/MLB No. 52) and James Tibbs III (LAD No. 10), the Los Angeles farm system is currently operating under an embarrassment of riches.
