What’s the perfect way to relax before the start of your American League pennant defense? Head to a Toronto Maple Leafs game with some great seats.
That proved a little tougher than expected for Blue Jays stars George Springer and Ernie Clement.
See, the duo was settled in for the Leafs-Rangers game on Wednesday -- wearing incredible custom Leafs jerseys with their own names -- when they got an unexpected tap on their shoulders from an usher. He had some disappointing news.
“Hey fellas, um, your seats are up a couple rows,” the usher essentially said, pointing in the direction of where they should sit.
You’d think there could have been a little more love for Springer and Clement. After all, they will forever go down in Blue Jays lore for their contributions to Toronto’s amazing 2025 run.
Clement, who has dabbled in playing ice hockey himself, set the all-time single-postseason MLB record with 30 knocks during the Blue Jays’ run to Game 7 of the World Series. Springer, a longtime playoff legend, hit an unforgettable three-run dinger in Game 7 of the ALCS, which propelled Toronto past the Mariners to the AL pennant and to its first trip to the World Series since 1993. He then followed that homer up by hitting .381 in the Fall Classic.
Next time these two show up at a Maple Leafs game, we say they can sit wherever they want.
