HOUSTON – Jacob Misiorowski will take the mound for the Brewers on Sunday, seeking to finish one of the strongest months of pitching in Milwaukee’s franchise history.
He goes into his first career start against the Astros at 1:10 p.m. CT at Daikin Park at 4-0 in May with a 0.29 ERA and 49 strikeouts in his first five starts of the month, along with a slew of records for velocity by a starter since pitch tracking began in 2008.

And what's the scariest thing for Brewers opponents? His run of success goes beyond the confines of the calendar. If you include some of Misiorowski’s work in April, there’s this, from MLB.com researcher Sarah Langs:
Misiorowski has gone five-plus innings and allowed no extra-base hits in each of his last six outings. That’s tied for the longest such streak in a season since at least 1900, with:
1980 Bob Welch
1910 Jack Coombs
1902 Vic Willis
1901 Christy Mathewson
And, in Misiorowski’s last six starts, he has 58 strikeouts to go with those zero extra-base hits allowed. He’s the first pitcher since at least 1900 with more than 45 strikeouts and no extra-base hits allowed in a six-game span.
The Astros will try to knock Misiorowski off course in Sunday’s series finale between the teams, but there’s nobody else the Brewers would like to have on the mound.
It was Jim Henderson, one of the Brewers’ trio of Major League pitching coaches, who shared the best bit of information in the wake of Misiorowski’s last start, a seven-inning gem in which his scoreless streak ended at 29 1/3 innings and he matched a career high with 12 strikeouts. After Misiorowski spent the winter focused on adding lower body strength, the coaches joked that he looked like he needed to size up to bigger jeans, according to Henderson.
Turns out, it was no joke.
“He did, I’m pretty sure,” Henderson said. “Two sizes.”
The following day, Misiorowski confirmed it. After investing in all new pants during the 2025 season, which is no small investment since he has to special-order a 37-inch inseam, he sized up from a 36-inch waist to 38 inches and had to buy all new pants and jeans.
It was a good investment, given the results.
“In the offseason, that was the focus, and I think I came out better on the other side. I feel stronger, but nothing crazy.”
