Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman will take Clayton Kershaw's place on Team USA's World Baseball Classic roster.
The righty was added to the roster after the team's quarterfinal win over Canada on Friday night. Kershaw, who retired after last season, came out of retirement to participate in the Classic but did not appear in any games. The three-time NL Cy Young winner and 18-year Dodgers lefty will remain with Team USA for the duration of the tournament, albeit in a cheering capacity.

Hoffman, meanwhile, finished an MLB-best 59 games for Toronto in 2025, going 9-7 with 33 saves and a 4.37 ERA in his first season with the team, anchoring the AL champions' bullpen. The 10-year veteran has also pitched for the Rockies, Reds and Phillies, and was an All-Star with Philadelphia in 2024.
Team USA plays the Dominican Republic at 8 p.m. ET Sunday (FS1) in Miami in the Classic semifinal round, with a trip to Tuesday's championship game on the line.
