TORONTO -- The Blue Jays will have to survive without Josh Donaldson for a little while longer.
Toronto manager John Gibbons announced on Wednesday afternoon that Donaldson will not be activated off the disabled list when the minimum 10-day requirement expires on Saturday. The Blue Jays can't say for sure when Donaldson will return, but it won't be until at least early next week.
Donaldson last appeared in a game on April 10 in Baltimore. He has been sidelined with right shoulder inflammation, but the Blue Jays said an MRI did not reveal any structural damage. Donaldson remains in Dunedin, Fla., where he has been rehabbing at the club's Minor League complex.
"No, I wouldn't expect him back Saturday," Gibbons said. "I think it was bothering him a little bit swinging, but once they knocked it out, he could definitely do some [DH]."

Morales set to return
The injury news is better for designated hitter Kendrys Morales, who is on the 10-day DL with a strained right hamstring. Morales has been taking part in batting practice during recent days, and Gibbons confirmed that he will be activated when eligible on Friday in New York.
Morales has just five hits in 22 at-bats this season, and it's not immediately clear what role he will have upon returning. The 34-year-old slugger is expected to receive the bulk of his at-bats at DH, but the Blue Jays also may need to cycle several players through that spot, and Donaldson may require time there upon his return.
"He'll be activated," Gibbons said.
Bautista signs in Atlanta
Longtime Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista signed a Minor League deal with Atlanta on Wednesday afternoon. Bautista will reported to Atlanta's Minor League facility and begin working out at third base in an attempt to prove he has something left. The agreement reunites Bautista with former Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos.
Bautista is not guaranteed a spot on Atlanta's 25-man roster, but if he eventually cracks the big league club, it's possible he would make his return to Toronto on June 19-20, when the Braves are in town for a two-game seres.
"I like it, man," Gibbons said of the signing. "It would be good to see him."
