Anthony Eyanson was the first member of the Red Sox 2025 Draft class to reach Double-A. Through two starts for Portland, he's already showing why.
MLB’s No. 72 prospect built on his early-season success by delivering five no-hit frames in the Sea Dogs' 2-0 victory over Reading on Tuesday at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field. The outing marked Eyanson’s second hitless outing -- and fifth scoreless one -- through seven professional starts (29 1/3 innings) and lowered his ERA to 0.61.
Drafted in the third round out of Louisiana State, Eyanson has been downright dominant in his debut season. The 21-year-old's ERA and 0.58 WHIP lead all Minor League pitchers with at least 20 innings. Additionally, he is one of just four starters who have given up 10 hits or fewer across at least seven starts.

The other names in that group are equally elite arms -- 2024 first-rounder Kash Mayfield (SD No. 4), southpaw Johnny King (TOR No. 4) and flamethrowing teenager Miguel Sime Jr. (WSH No. 17). Within that, Eyanson and Mayfield are the only ones with more than 29 innings under their respective belts and Eyanson is the only prospect above High-A.
In addition to limiting baserunners, Eyanson has gotten plenty of whiffs this season. Boston’s No. 2 prospect produced eight swings-and-misses while picking up four strikeouts on Tuesday. In total, he has 49 punchouts -- the second-most in the system behind fellow 2025 draftee Dylan Brown (45).

Known for his elite ability to spin the ball in college, Eyanson has found a new premier weapon in his four-seamer since turning pro. After sitting in the low 90s as an amateur, the offering now averages 95-96 mph and can touch triple digits.
The 6-foot-2 California native pairs that newfound heat with a 65-grade slider and a plus curveball. In his latest outing, Eyanson finished off three of his four strikeouts with breaking balls.
Franklin Arias had a strong night for Portland in support of Eyanson. MLB’s No. 11 prospect collected two knocks and an RBI in his 14th multihit game of the year. The performance raised his OPS to 1.025 -- tops among full-season Red Sox Minor Leaguers.
