Indians activate INF Jack Hannahan from 15-day disabled list

CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has activated INF JACK HANNAHAN from the 15-day Disabled List.  To allow room on the 25-man Major League roster LHP SCOTT BARNES has been optioned to AAA Columbus.

 

Hannahan was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 28 with a left calf strain after being limited to just one game by lower back inflammation from May 14-27.  It was his first career stint on the Major League DL.  So far this year Jack is hitting .276 (29-105) with 6 doubles, 3 home runs and 18RBI in 31 games.  He is hitting .324 (22-68) off right-handed pitching, .429 (18-42) with runners on base and .393 (11-28) with RISP.

 

Barnes has split the 2012 season between Cleveland (10.38ERA, 4 games) and Triple-A Columbus (3.81ERA, 11 games).
