Indians promote RHP Shaun Marcum from Columbus; option INF Zach Walters to Columbus
CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:
Selected the contract of RHP SHAUN MARCUM (#38) from the AAA Columbus Clippers.
Optioned INF ZACH WALTERS to AAA Columbus.
Marcum, 33, has spent most of the season in Columbus, going 4-0 with a 1.36 ERA in 5 starts (33.0IP, 22H, 6R/5ER, 8BB, 22K, .207avg). Among International League pitching leaders, he is currently 2nd in ERA and tied for 3rd in wins and over his 2 May starts owns an ERA of 0.60 (15.0IP, 8H, 1R/ER). During his tenure with Columbus he has limited right-handed batters to a .134 (9-67) average against with an overall mark of .108 (4-37) with runners on base. This marks his second stint with Cleveland in 2015, tossing a club season-high 5.0 relief innings on April 12 vs. Detroit (5.0IP, 3H, 1R/ER). He is scheduled to start tonight at Chicago, his first Major League start since July 6, 2013 with the New York Mets.
