Hurricane Disaster Relief
Florida
Hurricane Ian made landfall as a Category 4 storm with winds of 150 mph on Florida’s west coast. As some 1.75 million people faced evacuation orders, torrential rains, flooding, and record storm surges in Naples and Fort Myers left more than 2.6 million people without power across the state. The need is expected to grow as first responders begin their search and rescue efforts and assess community damage.
You can support relief efforts by donating to the Florida Disaster Fund here or the American Red Cross here.
Cuba
Once again, Cuba is suffering the devastation of another hurricane. While Ian traversed through western Cuba with direct impact in Pinar del Rio, the effects are being felt throughout the entire Island. From power outages to food insecurity, Hurricane Ian has made the lives of the Cuban people even more difficult than it already is. One of the most direct and effective ways to show solidarity with the Cuban people is by supporting the efforts of the Church in the aftermath of the storm. Contributions made via Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami are a secure way to help in this time of need.

Dominican Republic
In the Dominican Republic, there’s been a loss of human life and thousands of displaced families caused by flooding of rivers and a breakdown of the electrical system after Hurricane Fiona. This impact is mainly in the eastern and northeastern regions of the country.
The Miami Marlins has a special relationship with the Dominican people and an ever-growing presence with a new baseball academy. Our colleagues on the ground are working closely with local organizations to assist those who have been impacted.
