Military Appreciation

Walter Reed

Every season since 2005, the Mets have visited Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, to say thank you to the men and women of the military and their families.

The entire team along with Mr. Met hosts a lunch at the USO Center at Walter Reed. The day features fun and games along with a DJ and face painting for the children. The players pose for photos and sign autographs for the soldiers and listen to their experiences of life in the military.

Military Softball

Members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard faced off in a round robin tournament at the fifth annual Military Softball Classic presented by Fiserv at Citi Field. The service members played in front of cheering friends and family and enjoyed surprise appearances by Jacob deGrom, Jeff McNeil and Zack Wheeler.

Veteran of the Game presented by Fiserv

At every home game at Citi Field, the Mets salute the "Veteran of the Game" presented by Fiserv. A player presents the honoree with an American flag that flew over Citi Field and Citi Vision plays a segment showcasing the soldier's achievements while serving in the military.

Navy Ship Visit

In honor of fleet week, Mets players toured the USS New York to learn about life on the warship. Players including Steven Matz and Dominic Smith, whose brother serves in the Navy, took pictures with service members and handed out special Mets Challenge Coins.
