SD OF Renfroe, MIA RHP DeSclafani AZ Fall Lge Week 5 POTW

Surprise Saguaros OF Hunter Renfroe (Padres) and Salt River Rafters RHP Anthony DeSclafani (Marlins) are the Arizona Fall League's week five player and pitcher of the week, respectively.

Renfroe - MLB.com's No. 71 overall prospect and San Diego's No. 4 prospect posted two five-RBI games last week (November 3 at Glendale, November 8 vs. Mesa), an offensive explosion that included three home runs.

For the week, the 6-0, 200-pound outfielder hit .333 with 6 runs, 2 doubles, 3 homers, 11 RBI, 1 walk and 18 total bases in five games.

Renfroe's three homers included a flair for the dramatic - a three-run inside-the-park round-tripper, grand slam, and solo blast.

His three home runs, 11 RBI and .857 slugging percentage led the AFL last week.

The Padres' first-round 2013 draft choice (13th overall) entered the final week of Fall League play among the league leaders in most key offensive categories. He ranked first in extra-base hits (13), second in RBI (19), total bases (47), and home runs (5-tie), and third in home-run ratio (1:17 at-bats) and slugging percentage (.563).

A native of Crystal Springs, MS, the former Mississippi State Bulldog owns a .268 batting average over two professional seasons covering four stops (Single-A and Double-A) with 27 homers and 100 RBI in 172 games.

DeSclafani - The Marlins' right-hander notched a spotless 0.00 ERA last week in two starts covering 10 innings without a decision. He struck out seven with only one walk while allowing six hits and no runs and finishing with a 0.70 WHIP. His 10 innings pitched and seven strikeouts led the league.

In his first six AFL starts, DeSclafani was 1-0s with a 2.67 ERA. Through five weeks, the 6-1, 190-pound Freehold, NJ product led the AFL in innings pitched (27) and ranked second in strikeouts (24), walks per nine innings (1.33), and fewest baserunners per nine innings (9.67).

A sixth-round Miami draft choice (199th overall) in 2011 out of the University of Florida, DeSclafani sports a 26-16 record and 3.23 ERA in 73 games (65 starts) over three minor league seasons. He won his major-league debut vs. the Dodgers on May 14 this season, the first of 13 appearances (5 starts) when he posted a 2-2 record and 6.27 ERA.
