Astros to host special premiere screening of Jose Altuve documentary
Hollywood-style event will be held tomorrow at downtown theater
HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros will host a very special premiere screening of "Big Dreams: The Jose Altuve Story" on Thursday, April 16, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Majestic Metro theater located at 911 Preston St. in downtown Houston.
The documentary, which was produced by MLB Productions and narrated by award-winning actor and Houston native Dennis Quaid, is an inspirational story on the meteoric rise of Altuve from undersized, little-known prospect to history-making All-Star. The story follows Altuve around the globe and includes stops in Japan, Florida and his native homeland of Venezuela. In 2014, Altuve had one of the finest seasons by a second baseman in Major League history, becoming the first Astros player ever to win a batting title. He also led the A.L. in hits and stolen bases.
Joining Altuve at Thursday's premiere screening will be Astros Owner and Chairman Jim Crane, Hall of Famers Craig Biggio and Nolan Ryan, Astros President of Business Operations Reid Ryan and former Astros star Jose Cruz.
The event, which is invitation-only, will have a fun, Hollywood feel, complete with an Astros orange carpet and complimentary food and beverages. Altuve and other guests will be available to the media prior to the screening between 5:20 p.m. - 5:45 p.m. in the theater's main lobby. Altuve and the film's producer and director, Danny Field, will participate in a question-and-answer session inside the theater immediately following the 6:00 p.m. screening. The event will conclude by 7:30 p.m.
SPECIAL SIGNED ALTUVE PRINTS AVAILABLE TO BENEFIT ASTROS FOUNDATION
A limited amount of special edition prints of the Jose Altuve painting done by renowned Houston artist Opie Otterstad will be for sale at the theater during the event. Each print will be signed by both Altuve and Otterstad. Proceeds will benefit the Astros Foundation. The original painting, which commemorates Altuve's historic 2014 season, was presented to Altuve as a gift from the Astros on Opening Day.
