Two Minor League players suspended

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that two Minor League players have been suspended following their violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

New York Mets Minor League right-handed pitcher Derrick Bernard has received a 50-game suspension without pay following a second positive test for a drug of abuse in violation of the Program. The suspension of Bernard, who is currently on the roster of the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Mets, will be effective upon the completion of his current 62-game suspension, which was issued to him last August.

Free agent Minor League right-handed pitcher Christopher R. Perez has received a 50-game suspension without pay following a second positive test for a drug of abuse in violation of the Program. The suspension of Perez will be effective immediately upon his signing with another Major League organization.
