Umpires, Official Scorers Announced for 2015 All-Star Game

Tim Welke to Serve As Crew Chief for 86th Midsummer Classic; Brian Gorman Will Be Replay Official

Tim Welke, a crew chief in his 32nd Major League season, will call balls and strikes and will lead the crew assigned to Baseball's 86th Midsummer Classic on Tuesday, July 14th at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Major League Baseball announced today.

This marks the third career All-Star Game for Welke, who previously worked the event in 1990 and 2005. The Michigan native has also been assigned to eight Division Series, seven League Championship Series and four World Series. Welke's crew will consist of regular season crew chief Jerry Meals (first base), Paul Schrieber (second base), Ron Kulpa (third base), James Hoye (left field) and Alan Porter (right field). This is the second career All-Star Game for Meals (previous: 2002), Schrieber (2000) and Kulpa (2001) and the first for Hoye and Porter. The Replay Official who will be based in the Replay Operations Center at MLB Advanced Media during the All-Star Game will be crew chief Brian Gorman, a 24th-year Major League Umpire. Gorman has worked two previous All-Star Games (1998 and 2009).

The Minor League Baseball Umpires who will work the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game are Ron Teague (home plate) of the Pacific Coast League, Dan Merzel (first base) of the Eastern League, Javerro January (second base) of the Southern League and Junior Valentine (third base) of the Eastern League. All four umpires will be on the field for the Gillette Home Run Derby presented by Head & Shoulders on Gatorade All-Star Workout Day on Monday, July 13th. January and Valentine also will tend to Sunday's All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game. 

The official scorers for the 2015 All-Star Game will be MLB's longtime Cincinnati-based scorers Mike Cameron and Ron Roth as well as John Fay (Cincinnati Enquirer), who serves as the Cincinnati Chapter Chairperson of the Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA). In addition, Cameron and Roth will share scoring duties for Sunday's SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game. 

The 2015 All-Star Game will be played at Great American Ball Park on Tuesday, July 14th. The 86th All-Star Game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports; in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and RDS; and worldwide by partners in more than 160 countries.
