Umpires for Wild Card games and Division Series announced
Ted Barrett and John Hirschbeck to Serve as Wild Card Crew Chiefs; Gary Cederstrom, Gerry Davis, Dana DeMuth and Dale Scott Appointed for Division Series
Major League Baseball today announced the umpires who have been assigned to 2015 Postseason games through the Division Series. The Wild Card Game crew chiefs will be Ted Barrett and John Hirschbeck, while the Division Series crew chiefs will be Gary Cederstrom, Gerry Davis, Dana DeMuth and Dale Scott.
Barrett will lead the crew in the Tuesday, October 6th American League Wild Card Game presented by Budweiser between the Houston Astros and the host New York Yankees on ESPN, with 17-year Major League Umpire Eric Cooper slated to call balls and strikes. They will be joined by Chris Conroy, Paul Emmel, Manny Gonzalez and regular season crew chief Bill Miller. Hirschbeck's crew has been assigned to the Wednesday, October 7th National League Wild Card Game presented by Budweiser between the Chicago Cubs and the host Pittsburgh Pirates on TBS. His crew will include home plate umpire Jeff Nelson, a regular season crew chief and 18-year Major League Umpire, along with Cory Blaser, Mike Estabrook, Jim Reynolds and Hunter Wendelstedt.
The American League Division Series are scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 8th. The crew chiefs on the AL side will be Gerry Davis (AL WC @ KC) and Dale Scott (TEX @ TOR). Scott's crew will include Dan Bellino, Vic Caparazza, James Hoye, Marvin Hudson and Alfonso Marquez. The crew led by Davis, whose 134 career Postseason games are the most all-time, features Lance Barksdale, Mike Everitt, Angel Hernandez, Ron Kulpa and Todd Tichenor. All ALDS games will be shown exclusively on FS1 or MLB Network.
The National League Division Series are set to start on Friday, October 9th. The crew chiefs for the NLDS will be Gary Cederstrom (NYM @ LAD) and Dana DeMuth (NL WC @ STL). Cederstrom will work with Chad Fairchild, Greg Gibson, Chris Guccione, Alan Porter and Jim Wolf. DeMuth, who worked his 4,000th career Major League game this season, will be alongside Mark Carlson, Phil Cuzzi, Brian Knight, Bill Welke and regular season crew chief Mike Winters. TBS will exclusively broadcast all NLDS games.
Dan Iassogna and Mark Wegner will be the Replay Officials for the Wild Card Games, while Kerwin Danley, Paul Nauert, Brian O'Nora and regular season crew chief Tim Welke will fill those roles during the Division Series. All games telecast on MLB Network, TBS and FOX will be available to MLB.TV subscribers who are authenticated subscribers to the applicable network through a participating pay TV provider.
ESPN Radio will provide live national coverage of all 2015 MLB Postseason games, including the Wild Card Games and any necessary Tiebreakers.
