Baseball legends and MLB mascots to join fans at The Color Run MLB All-Star 5k presented by Nike on Sunday, July 13

The Voice contestant and Minneapolis-based singer Kat Perkins to perform the National Anthem

Hall of Famers Juan Marichal and Dave Winfield along with former Twins Scott Erickson and Doug Mientkiewicz will be in attendance at The Color Run MLB All-Star 5K presented by Nike on Sunday, July 13 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in Falcon Heights, Minnesota. Prior to the start of the event, Minneapolis-based singer and top-five contestant on The Voice, Kat Perkins will sing the National Anthem.

In addition, T.C. and eight other MLB mascots, along with Runicorn, The Color Run mascot, will be cheering on participants as they start the race and will be available for photographs. Mascots scheduled to appear alongside T.C. Bear include: Baxter (Arizona Diamondbacks), The Oriole Bird (Baltimore Orioles), Billy the Marlin (Miami Marlins), Pirate Parrot (Pittsburgh Pirates), Stomper (Oakland Athletics), Mariners Moose (Seattle Mariners), the Swinging Friar (San Diego Padres) and Rangers Captain (Texas Rangers).

MLB will make a contribution to three charities supporting cancer research and education - Stand Up To Cancer, Prostate Cancer Foundation and Susan G. Komen - and The Color Run will make a contribution to their charitable partner, Camp Kesem. Registrants will also have the opportunity to make a charitable donation at the completion of the registration process.

To enhance the event for participants, MLB national sponsors will be incorporated into the festivities including:

  • Dodge ball with paint-dipped sponge balls and tire obstacles presented by Firestone
  • Tee-ball on a field created by Scotts
  • Color drumming where participants place magenta powder on drums for a photo opportunity with flying color sponsored by T-Mobile
  • Post-race snacks contributed by Kellogg's
  • Hydration throughout the event furnished by Gatorade and Aquafina
  • A Slip 'n' Slide with colored water that ends in colored splash pools presented by MLB and MTV2's Off the Bat from the MLB Fan Cave

MLB national sponsors - Firestone, Gatorade, Scotts and T-Mobile - will also each be sponsoring one of the four of the color zones participants run through to be doused in different colored powder. Also providing support for the event is MLB national sponsor Gillette.

This is the first ever The Color Run MLB All-Star 5K presented by Nike and is sure to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The event is a five-kilometer, un-timed race in which participants are doused in different colored powder at each kilometer. Following the event, a festival including music, giveaways and contests will take place. The paint race, which is open to participants of all ages, is an entertainment experience for the whole family.

The start-line window will open at 8:30am CT with additional waves beginning every few minutes. All registered participants will receive a commemorative event T-shirt, headband, bracelet and shoulder bag. Thousands of fans are expected to participate in this unique fun run and festival. The Color Run, also known as the Happiest 5K on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality.
