Adjusted Interleague slate highlights Mets' 2013 sked
The Mets will play three games in Minneapolis from April 12-14 to kick off their Interleague slate, adding a little diversity to one of their longest road trips of the year. They will also play the White Sox in Chicago from June 25-26 and the Indians in Cleveland from Sept. 6-8.
The 2013 regular-season schedule opens at Citi Field for the Mets, who will host Opening Day against the Padres on April 1. They will also face the Phillies twice in the season's opening month, playing series April 8-10 in Philadelphia and April 26-28 in New York. The Nationals come to town for the first time from April 19-21.
With the Astros moving to the American League next season, MLB will see at least one Interleague matchup every day. A byproduct of that change is that the Mets will only play four games against the Yankees instead of the usual six, facing their inter-borough rivals twice at Citi Field and twice at Yankee Stadium.
But those series figure to be highlights of the season. The Mets will host the Yankees on Memorial Day, May 27, and Tuesday, May 28, before concluding the Subway Series the following two days at Yankee Stadium.
Other Interleague series at Citi Field will come against the White Sox (May 7-8), Royals (Aug. 2-4) and Tigers (Aug. 23-25).
Memorial Day will not be the only holiday spent at home for the Mets, who will also host the D-backs on the Fourth of July. Twelve days later, they will take part in a veritable MLB holiday, hosting the All-Star Game in Flushing for the first time since 1964.
Additional highlights of the 2013 schedule include a 10-game West Coast trip to Arizona, Los Angeles and San Diego from Aug. 9-18, as well as a nine-game homestand against the Nationals, Dodgers and Phillies from April 19-28.
Should the Mets find themselves in serious playoff contention for the first time since 2008, the final five weeks of the season will loom large. Beginning Aug. 26, the Mets are scheduled to play a stretch of 20 out of 26 games against NL East foes Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington and Miami.
They will close out their schedule with four games against the Brewers from Sept. 26-29 at Citi Field, playing 14 of their final 20 games at home.
