All-Star Game to feature American Idol, country stars

Several artists affiliated with American Idol -- including reigning winner Phillip Phillips, former participant Kellie Pickler and former winner David Cook -- will provide the entertainment at the Home Run Derby and the Midsummer Classic, which will be held at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on Tuesday night.

Phillips will take to the field to sing his original song "Home" with the American Idol Band prior to the All-Star Game, and that performance will be part of a tribute highlighting the tornado recovery efforts in Joplin, Missouri and Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Luke Bryan -- whose album "tailgates & tanlines" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart -- will conduct the national anthem prior to the game, and Pickler, a contestant in American Idol's fifth season, will sing "God Bless America" during the seventh-inning stretch. The All-Star Game will air live on FOX on Tuesday beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

And while those artists will combine to make sure the All-Star Game has its share of star power, the entertainment will actually begin at Monday night's Home Run Derby. The Zac Brown Band will perform on the field at 8:00 p.m ET, and Cook will sing the national anthem prior to the Derby.

Cook won season seven of American Idol, and the native of Blue Springs, Missouri will be making a homecoming for the All-Star Game. The Zac Brown Band will perform a medley of two songs that will air on the MLB Network prior to ESPN's coverage of the Home Run Derby.
