A's add another right-hander in Freese

Dakota Freese, a right-hander from Des Moines Area Community College, was selected with Oakland's 12th-round pick on Saturday.

Freese went 7-1 in 12 starts in 2013, logging 61 innings with a 2.66 ERA and 90 strikeouts.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Iowan throws in the low 90s and has a respectable curveball.

He was previously a 34th-round selection by the White Sox in 2011, but opted for college with intentions of improving his chances of being drafted higher. His Draft stock may have been hurt in 2011 after he missed the early part of his senior year because of a school-imposed suspension.
