A's agree to contract with first-round Draft pick

The A's have agreed to terms with Matt Chapman, their top pick in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft.

Chapman, a third baseman out of Cal State Fullerton, was taken with the No. 25 pick in the Draft, and he signed a deal with a signing bonus ($1.75 million) slightly below the pick value ($1,898,000).

Chapman batted .312 with a .412 on-base percentage as a junior, and he delivered six home runs and 48 RBIs in 54 games played this season.

Chapman was named to the All-America third team by Baseball America, and he was also named third-team All-America by Collegiate Baseball.
