A's agree to terms with LHP Dallas Braden on one-year contract

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Dallas Braden on a one-year contract, the club announced today.

Braden made just three starts for the A’s in 2011, posting a 1-1 record and a 3.00 ERA before being placed on the disabled list April 18 with stiffness in his left shoulder.  He underwent surgery to a repair a torn capsule in his left shoulder May 17 and missed the remainder of the season.  The 28-year old left-hander is 26-36 with a 4.16 ERA in 94 career appearances, including 79 starts, in five seasons with Oakland.  Braden tossed the 19th perfect game in Major League history May 9, 2010 against Tampa Bay.

The A’s now have five remaining arbitration eligible players: Andrew Bailey, Joey Devine, Gio Gonzalez, Brandon McCarthy and Ryan Sweeney.
