A's claim outfielder Lambo from Pirates

Andrew Lambo, unable to convert his strong Minor League numbers into a role with the Pirates despite numerous opportunities, was claimed Friday on waivers by the Athletics.

Lambo went 1-for-25 with the Bucs this season until being sidelined by plantar fasciitis in his left foot on May 6 and missing the rest of the season.

A powerful left-handed hitter who has hit 100 homers along with a .280 average in 741 Minor League games, Lambo spent parts of each of the last three seasons with the Pirates. In a total of 59 games and 94 at-bats, he had one home run and drove in three runs.

Lambo's best big league stint came as a late-season callup in 2014, when he batted .256 in 21 games and went 5-for-15 as a pinch-hitter.
