A's claim OF Nick Buss off waivers from Dodgers

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland Athletics have claimed outfielder Nick Buss off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers, the club announced today. Buss has been optioned to Triple-A Sacramento, with pitcher A.J. Griffin transferred to the 60-day disabled list in a corresponding 40-man roster move.

Buss, originally an eighth-round selection in the 2008 First-Player Draft by Los Angeles, was hitting .105 (2 for 19) with one walk and one strikeout in eight games with the Dodgers this season. At Triple-A Albuquerque this year, he batted .261 (24-for-92) with 12 runs, three doubles, three triples, one home run, 16 RBI, eight walks and 12 strikeouts in 26 games.

In 2013, Buss was a Triple-A All-Star for Albuquerque, where he batted .303 with 29 doubles, 11 triples, 17 home runs and a Pacific Coast League-leading 100 RBI.
