Astros Announce 2013 Radio Apprentice Contest

Ever dreamed of being a baseball broadcaster?

Well, if you live in the surrounding Houston area, you may just see that dream come true. The Houston Astros recently announced a Radio Apprentice Contest for the 2013 season, "You Make The Call."

Here are more details on how to participate:

Calling all Rooters. We want you to participate in "You Make The Call", a Radio Apprentice Contest for the 2013 season! The Astros are providing fans who may be aspiring broadcasters the unique opportunity to serve in a newly-created role for next season to conduct pre- and post-game interviews, attend press conferences and serve as a 'roving reporter' during games.

On August 13, all contestants must take part in an initial interview process at Minute Maid Park in front of a panel of judges. The judges will narrow the field down to 10 contestants that will advance to the next round. Those 10 remaining contestants will be asked to conduct interviews with Astros players during batting practice of the August 17-19 homestand vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks. Those interviews will be posted online to give fans the opportunity to vote, along with the panel of judges, on four semi-finalists for the next round.
