Astros honor alumni tonight during Legends Weekend

HOUSTON, TX – More than 40 former Astros players took part in a very special pregame ceremony this evening at Minute Maid Park prior to the 6:05 p.m. game vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates as the club continued the season-long celebration of its 50th anniversary (presented by The Methodist Hospital System).

Included in the ceremony was the introduction of several members of the Astros All-Time 25-man roster, which included Jeff Bagwell, Craig Biggio, Roger Clemens, Jose Cruz, Larry Dierker, J.R. Richard and Jimmy Wynn. Several alumni are signing autographs at no charge during tonight’s game as well. Earlier today, the Astros hosted the Legends Luncheon, which also was a tribute to dozens of former players that have had a significant impact on the franchise.

As part of Legends Weekend at Minute Maid Park, the Astros players are wearing a different uniform from the team’s past each night. Tonight, Houston is wearing the shooting star uniform that was debuted when the Astrodome opened in 1965. Tomorrow afternoon, the Astros will wear the popular rainbow uniforms from the 1970s.
