Bauer good to go after bout with food poisoning

CLEVELAND -- Trevor Bauer has recovered from his bout with food poisoning over the weekend, and the right-hander is slated to return to the rubber on Tuesday against the Royals.

Bauer warmed up to make his originally scheduled start on Saturday against the Tigers, but he was scratched 40 minutes prior while dealing with the aftermath of a bad plate of hotel room service fettuccine alfredo.

"He'll pitch tomorrow," Indians manager Terry Francona said before Monday's opener. "He's good. He came in early today, because if something wasn't going the right direction, we wanted to make sure we were able to have a heads up, because that would entail a roster move. But he's good to go. So that was good news."

Bauer has pitched well this season, carrying an 0.95 ERA over his first 19 innings. Although he's struggled at times with his command, Bauer has yet to allow a home run and has seen a significant boost in both his swinging-strike rate and his strikeout rate. Bauer has struck out more than one-third of the batters he's faced this season, which is tops among all MLB starters.

Tuesday will be his fourth career outing against Kansas City, and his first this season.
