Blue Jays announce Spring Training schedule

TORONTO -- A busy offseason lies ahead, but the countdown to Spring Training is on as the Blue Jays announced their 16-game home Grapefruit League schedule and their Montreal exhibition games for April 1-2 on Monday afternoon.

The Blue Jays will open their spring schedule by hosting the Phillies on March 2 at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. Each American League East rival will make at least one trip to the Blue Jays' spring home in Dunedin, Fla., and Toronto's preparation for the 2016 season concludes with a two-game exhibition series in Montreal against the Red Sox.

New York and Baltimore are scheduled for two games in Dunedin, while Boston and Tampa Bay each have one. The Mets and Reds got to experience Montreal over the past two years, and now it's Boston's turn.

The annual tradition of the Blue Jays playing the Canadian Junior National Team is set to continue with a game on March 17. Toronto typically uses the opportunity to showcase some of its Canadian prospects, and in recent years, the junior team has featured players such as Gareth Morgan, Cal Quantrill, Ryan Kellogg, Tom Robson, Demi Orimoloye and Tristan Pompey.

Tickets for three-game Flex packs, season and group sales will be made available on Tuesday at 9 a.m. ET. Single-game tickets will be made available for 36 hours beginning on Dec. 3, and then permanently on Jan. 6. Tickets are on sale now for the Montreal games vs. Boston.
