Blue Jays claim Tuiasosopo

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have claimed outfielder MATT TUIASOSOPO on waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks. To make room on the 40-man roster the Blue Jays have released LHP LUIS PEREZ.

TUIASOSOPO, 27, has appeared in 16 games this spring for the Diamondbacks batting .118 with six RBI in 34 at bats.   Last season with the Detroit Tigers, the 6-2, 225 lb. right-handed hitter posted a .244 batting average with seven home runs and 30 RBI in 81 games (164 at bats). In parts of four Major League seasons with Seattle (2008-2010) and Detroit (2013) he has posted a .207 batting average with 12 home runs and 45 RBI in 142 games.
