Blue Jays draft lefty Mayza in 12th round

The Blue Jays made it back-to-back left-handers when they chose Tim Mayza in the 12th round with the 355th pick of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft on Saturday.

Mayza came into his junior year at Millersville University as Baseball America's sixth-best Division II prospect, and he didn't disappoint.

The 21-year-old was named All-PSAC East, and All-Atlantic Region First Team by Daktronics, and was a semifinalist for the Tino Martinez Award as the top Division II collegiate player.

Mayza went 11-3 in 15 starts for Millersville, posting a 1.55 ERA with 1.01 WHIP and 91 strikeouts in 98 2/3 innings on the mound.

His greatest strength may come from his ability to shut down left-handed hitters, who hit only .190 against him on the season.
