Moss' Georgia roots still strong to this day

Brandon Moss, 1B/OF, A's
Hometown: Loganville, Ga.

Born in Monroe, Ga., Moss went to high school in Loganville and still resides there today. Before he was an All-Star, he held odd jobs in Loganville during the winters.

Moss played football and baseball at Loganville High, and in 2001, he played for Team Georgia in the Sunbelt Classic in Oklahoma.

Also representing Georgia on that team were big leaguers Jeff Francoeur, Brian McCann and Matt Capps.

Moss' Georgia roots go beyond the diamond: He is also a cousin of country singer Alan Jackson, who hails from Newnan, Ga.

Aaron Leibowitz is an associate reporter for MLB.com.
