Braves to celebrate 20-year history of Turner Field

ATLANTA -- Before moving to SunTrust Park at the start of the 2017 season, the Braves will spend next summer celebrating the memories that have been created over the past two decades at Turner Field.

Though its history may not have been long, Turner Field has served as a valuable Atlanta landmark since being constructed to serve as Centennial Olympic Stadium during the 1996 Olympics. It was transformed to a baseball stadium over the following winter and has served as the Braves' home since the start of the 1997 season.

Atlanta will celebrate its 20-season stay within this park by providing a variety of pregame ceremonies, promotional giveaways and opportunities for fans to discuss their favorite memories. A commemorative patch will also be worn on the Braves' jerseys throughout the season and will also be available on select merchandise and collector's items.

History might best recognize Turner Field as the stadium where Chipper Jones called home throughout most of his career. The Braves have won 10 National League East titles (including nine straight from 1997-2005), played in one World Series ('99) and hosted the '00 All-Star Game since moving into their current home, which was named after former team owner Ted Turner.

Before every game next year, the Braves will host a home game countdown that will give a special guest a chance to tear away the number (starting with 81) that symbolizes how many games remain scheduled at Turner Field.

The Final Season log adorns a holiday ornament that is being offered with the purchase of the Braves Holiday Ticket Pack, a four-game ticket package that will be available beginning Tuesday at Braves.com/holidays.
