Breslow Finds Out About Trade Via Tweet

Even wonder how Major League Baseball players find out that they have been traded? Is it a call from the GM? A meeting in the GM's office? The team beat reporter informing the player of the deal when looking for his reaction?

Well, the times they are a changin'. Via social media networks, specifically Twitter, professional athletes are frequently learning major career news at the same time as the rest of the world. That is exactly what happened Friday to left-handed reliever Craig Breslow, one of five players to switch teams in the blockbuster deal that most notably sent Trevor Cahill from the Oakland Athletics to the Arizona Diamondbacks. According to this tweet from Breslow, the first that he heard of the move came from a reporter's tweet.
