Marlins' broadcaster Dave Van Horne to be inducted into Canadian baseball Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 21

Marlins radio broadcaster Dave Van Horne will be inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame on June 21, 2014. The induction ceremony is set to begin at 1 p.m. in St. Marys, Ontario. Van Horne, who joined the Marlins organization in 2001 as the lead play-by-broadcaster, is in his 46th season in Major League Baseball. Also being inducted are Tim Wallach, Murray Cook and the late Jim Ridley.

"Tim Wallach and Dave Van Horne are two names that have become synonymous with the Montreal Expos, and both have had a significant impact on baseball in this country, and Murray Cook and Jim Ridley helped blaze a trail for Canadians in the professional scouting and executive ranks," said Scott Crawford, the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame's Director of Operations. "We're proud and excited to celebrate their careers in St. Marys this June."

In 2011, Van Horne was honored by the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown with the Ford C. Frick Award for excellence in baseball broadcasting. In Canada, he received the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame's Jack Graney Award for contributions to baseball through broadcasting. He is just the second Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame inductee to have won both the Jack Graney and Ford C. Frick awards, joining Tom Cheek.

Van Horne began broadcasting in the Majors in 1969 with the Montreal Expos, calling the Expos' first game on April 8, 1969. He was with organization until the end of the 2000 season. With the Marlins, he broadcasted the team's World Series championship season in 2003 and called the final home game in Expos' history from the visiting radio booth at Olympic Stadium on September 29, 2004.
