Brooklyn teacher to represent Mets at All-Star Game

NEW YORK -- It turns out the Mets will have additional representation at next week's All-Star Game.

Renan Ebeid, of Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, was named the Mets' winner in the "All-Star Teachers" program and will be honored during a ceremony at Target Field before the July 15 Midsummer Classic. Each of the 30 Major League clubs will be represented by a teacher.

Among Ebeid's accomplishments are raising more than $7 million to upgrade school facilities and designing a new fitness center to encourage students to live a healthier lifestyle. She was named the "Most Influential Staff Member of the Year" by the Lincoln students and community and grew up a Mets fan.
