Phillies farmhand strikes out nine over six solid innings

Phillies farmhand Tyson Brummett struck out nine and allowed a run on five hits over six innings as the Tiburones clinched a spot in the Championship Series. Mariners Minor Leaguer Luis Antonio Jimenez homered, doubled, drove in four runs and scored three times for La Guaira, which will face Aragua in the best-of-7 Finals. Minor League veteran Jake Stevens retired only two batters and was charged with four unearned runs for Magallanes, which got two hits and an RBI from Adonis Garcia. Box score

Former Major Leaguer William Bergolla singled home the go-ahead run in the 11th inning as the Navegantes blew a five-run lead before advancing to a one-game playoff for a spot in the Championship Series. Nationals infielder Andres Blanco was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Angels prospect Darwin Perez also drove in two runs for Magallanes. Suspended Rockies catcher Eliezer Alfonzo had two hits, including a three-run homer, for the Caribes. Box score

Former D-backs farmhand Agustin Murillo slugged a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Yaquis stunned the Algodoñeros to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 Championship Series. Major League veteran Karim Garcia doubled twice, drove in a run and scored once for Obregon, which got three hits and an RBI from Carlos Valencia. Former Padres prospect Jesus Lopez and Jose Gonzalez each drove in two runs for Guasave. Box score

Escogido 4, Aguilas 1
Julio Lugo, on the brink of signing a Minor League contract with the Indians, went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs to help the Leones grab a 2-0 lead in the best-of-9 Championship Series. Major League veteran Nelson Figueroa allowed one run and scattered seven hits over 6 1/3 innings for the win, while Mauro Gomez contributed his fifth postseason homer for Escogido. Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez went 2-for-2 and scored the Aguilas' lone run. Box score

Brewers prospect Sergio Miranda went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored as the Indios beat the Criollos to get within one win of their second championship in three years. Royals farmhand Irving Falu chipped in two hits and an RBI and also scored twice for Mayaguez. Edgard Clemente was 4-for-4 and drove in a run for Caguas. Box score
