Harper fouls ball off leg; X-rays negative
Nats outfielder exits game in seventh inning
SAN FRANCISCO -- Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper left Saturday night's 12-6 loss to the Giants after fouling a ball off his left leg.
Harper led off the seventh inning against right-hander George Kontos and, on a 2-1 pitch, fouled the ball off his left ankle. Harper was in pain for several minutes before he went back in the batter's box and flied out to center fielder Gregor Blanco.
After the half inning ended, Harper left the game and was replaced by Tyler Moore who went to left field, while Jayson Werth switched from left to right field.
Harper had X-rays taken and the results were negative. It's not known if Harper will play Sunday afternoon against the Giants.
"I got it pretty good," Harper said. "I hurt my ankle and it went down my foot. I felt pretty terrible at the time. It's still pretty bad. I'll know the status in the morning and go from there."
