Call stands after Cubs challenge Giants steal

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Cubs challenged a call at second base in the eighth inning of Monday's 8-4 win over the Giants, but the umpires determined the call should stand.

The Giants trailed, 8-4, in the eighth when Angel Pagan singled against starter Jeff Samardzija. He was lifted for Justin Grimm, who struck out Hunter Pence. Pagan stole second and was called safe by second-base umpire Chris Segal, but Cubs manager Rick Renteria challenged the call, saying second baseman Darwin Barney's tag was in time.

After a 2 minute, 7 second review, the umpires signaled that the call would stand.
