Cardinals to purchase Kolten Wong; infielder will join team in Chicago

ST. LOUIS, Mo., August 15, 2013 - The Cardinals have announced tonight that the team will purchase
the contract of infielder Kolten Wong from Memphis (AAA) prior to tomorrow's 3:05 p.m. game with the
Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. To make room on the 25-man roster, outfielder Adron Chambers was optioned to Memphis following today's game.

Wong, 22, has hit .303 with the Redbirds in 107 games, which led the team and ranked 11th in the
Pacific Coast League. His 125 hits are 9th most in the PCL, and he also has collected 21 doubles, eight triples
(T7th in the league), 10 home runs and legged out 20 stolen bases (T11th). He hit .375 in May and was
batting.364 this month (16-44). Wong posted a .299 average with runners in scoring position (26-87). The lefthanded hitting Wong has played all of his games at Memphis at second base.

A first-round selection for St. Louis in the 2011 draft (22nd overall), Wong will wear uniform #16 and is
expected to join the team in Chicago tomorrow.
