Cheviot Memorial Field chosen as Home Field Makeover Winner

CINCINNATI (March 16, 2012) – The Reds Community Fund and Procter & Gamble (P&G) North America Marketing have announced that Cheviot Memorial Field is the winner of the second annual Home Field Makeover contest.

As the winner, the City of Cheviot and Cheviot Memorial Field will receive a complete field renovation project, underwritten by the Reds Community Fund and P&G.

Located on the west side of Cincinnati, the two fields at Cheviot Memorial Fields will receive infield restorations, new fencing and backstops, field grading and leveling and new infield dirt and grass. The historic grandstand that dates back to the 1930’s will also receive a complete restoration.

“On behalf of the citizens of Cheviot, we are ecstatic about being chosen for the Home Field Makeover as well as the beautification project of the Cheviot Memorial Fieldhouse,” said Sam Keller, Mayor of Cheviot. “Without the generous support from the Reds and P&G a project of this magnitude would not be possible.”

The project will begin in the spring and includes support from Reds field vendors and members of the Reds grounds crew.

On August 2, over 500 volunteers from P&G North America Marketing, along with Reds Community Fund staff and board members, will participate in a day-long volunteer project at Cheviot Memorial Field. Teams of volunteers will complete the installation of new pitchers mounds, batters boxes, dugout benches, backstop fencing and bases.

Cheviot Memorial Field is located at 3729 Robb Avenue, Cheviot, Ohio 45211

The winner of the inaugural Home Field Makeover in 2011 was Pioneer Park in Kenton County, Ky.
