Yanks part ways with relievers Martin, Bailey
NEW YORK -- The Yankees cut ties Wednesday with right-handers Chris Martin and Andrew Bailey, each of whom pitched sparingly out of the bullpen for the club this past season.
Martin's rights were sold to the the Nippon Ham Fighters of Japan's Pacific League for $750,000, the club said. Bailey elected free agency in lieu of accepting an outright assignment; the Yankees declined Bailey's $2 million option for 2016 on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old Martin made his first career Opening Day roster in 2015, going 0-2 with a 5.66 ERA in 24 appearances. Martin also made 20 appearances for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, going 0-1 with a 3.18 ERA.
Bailey, 31, completed his comeback from career-threatening injuries to his right shoulder labrum and capsule. An All-Star closer for the Athletics in 2009-10, Bailey was 0-1 with an 8.31 ERA in 10 relief appearances for New York.
The Yankees also announced Wednesday that they added right-hander Vicente Campos to the 40-man roster. The 23-year-old was a combined 3-8 with a 6.29 ERA in 13 starts for Class A Advanced Tampa and the Yankees' Gulf Coast League affiliate in 2015.
New York also reinstated right-hander Domingo German, left-hander Jacob Lindgren, right-hander Chase Whitley and outfielder Mason Williams from the 60-day disabled list.
Lindgren is ranked as the Yankees' No. 8 prospect by MLBPipeline.com, while Williams ranks as the organization's No. 14 prospect.
