Christian Yelich wins Rawlings Gold Glove Award

**Earns 10th Gold Glove in Club History, First by an Outfielder**

MIAMI - Miami Marlins left fielder Christian Yelich was announced tonight as the National League winner of the 2014 Rawlings Gold Glove Award® at his position. The announcement was made by the Rawlings Sporting Goods Company.

Yelich, 22, becomes the first Marlins' outfielder ever to win a Gold Glove Award and the first Marlins player to win the Award since Mark Buehrle (pitcher) in 2012. This season, the Marlins had three finalists for a Gold Glove Award: Adeiny Hechavarria (shortstop) and Giancarlo Stanton (right field). Yelich led all NL left fielders this season with a .996 fielding percentage, committing just one error in 262 chances; his fielding percentage is also a new Marlins' record for left fielders.

The Award winners are determined by votes tallied from each ML manager and up to six coaches on his staff. Last season, Rawlings added a sabermetric component to the Rawlings Gold Glove Award selection process, as part of its collaboration with the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR). The SABR Defensive Index™ comprises approximately 25 percent of the overall selection total, while the managers' and coaches' vote carries the majority.

Other Marlins Gold Glove Award winners are: catcher Charles Johnson (1995, '96, '97); first baseman Derrek Lee (2003); second baseman Luis Castillo (2003, '04, '05); and third baseman Mike Lowell (2005).
