Wilson enjoying homecoming with Angels

C.J. Wilson, RHP, Angels
Hometown: Newport Beach, Calif.

When Wilson signed a five-year, $75 million deal with the Angels in December 2011, it was simply a homecoming for the crafty left-hander.

Wilson was born in Newport Beach, went to high school at Fountain Valley High School and played collegiately at Santa Ana College and Loyola Marymount University -- all close to the shadow of Anaheim's Big A. The 33-year-old lefty wasn't always a pitcher, though, as he played outfield and first base in high school and college. He was an all-conference selection during his senior season in high school and also participated in the 1998 Orange County North/South All-Star Game.

Wilson has made his mark off the field, as well, founding his own charitable foundation while living a straight-edge lifestyle (one devoid of drugs or alcohol). He studied screenwriting in college and races cars in his spare time.
