Close to home, Harrison relishing breakout

Bucs utility man and 2014 All-Star continuing foundation built in Cincinnati

Josh Harrison, Util., Pirates

Long before he became an All-Star in his breakout season of 2014, Harrison grew up playing baseball with his two older brothers in the Queen City.

After starring at Princeton High School as a shortstop, Harrison stayed close to home for college ball, playing at the University of Cincinnati. Harrison played second base for the Bearcats and was named the 2008 Big East co-Player of the Year, before being selected in the sixth round of the Draft by the Cubs that year.

Harrison enjoys his intradivision visits to play the Reds, but none so more than this season, one of which came right after he was named to the National League All-Star team.

"It's always nice to come back home," Harrison said in July. "But now, it's been amazing. I've had to clear my phone several times ... so many people were calling and texting me."
